Replacement of the battery

I just replaced the battery in my 2001 SL500. Upon attaching the new battery, I synchronized the Windows operating system and the SRS system. Subsequently, while driving, the automobile abruptly stopped functioning. It would not resume for an extended period. I removed the battery and waited for around one hour. Upon reconnecting the battery, the vehicle restarted; however, it stalled again as I entered the garage, precisely as it had before. The roll bar light illuminated, and the switch failed to activate the bar when pushed. The soft component will also not retract. Upon disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery, the engine will start and idle for around 15 minutes before stalling. The issue seems to be with the several processes required after the battery change. Could somebody indicate what I may be doing incorrectly or direct me to the source of the issue? What is the condition of the terminals/clamps? Was the vehicle cranking or completely unresponsive when it failed to begin for an extended period? Does it expire swiftly and silently, like to turning it off with a key? Does it sputter for around half a second before ceasing operation?

The windows must be resynchronized if the battery has been unplugged. I would inspect any fuses related to the roof, pump, roll bar, and engine.

Uncertain about the method to synchronize the SRS system. Are you referring to the ASR/stability control system?

It is possible that you may have caused harm when changing the battery, but it is improbable. The fuel pump relay or an adjacent component may have been disrupted due to the confined space.

The vehicle started cranking when I attempted to restart it and continued to do so for many seconds after I stopped twisting the key. I resynchronized the windows after reconnecting the batteries; they seemed to function OK, exhibiting a little decrease when the door was opened and a minor increase when it was closed. I will resynchronize again, since the only method to start the automobile is to detach the battery.

I will verify the fuses again. Everything was functioning well prior to the battery replacement.

During the resynchronization of the SRS, I rotate the steering wheel fully to the left and then fully to the right.

I lack a Mercedes OBD, so I am unable to get error codes while scanning. I am seeking to ascertain how I might have a superior scanner to verify the codes.

Did you attempt to jump-start the vehicle prior to changing the battery? These seem to be issues after that attempt.Which would be unfavorable...

It is essential to remove the negative cable first and rejoin it last. The electronics in these vehicles are somewhat rudimentary. I have not caused any harm, but I have heard plenty accounts.

The components requiring reset after battery disconnection are unrelated to engine ignition issues or the engine's cessation after a brief period. I question if your issue is even connected to the battery change; nonetheless, ultimately, it is inconsequential. Your objective is to identify the problem rather than its origin, correct?

The first action I would do is to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Acquire, loan, or get a fuel pressure gauge and assess the fuel pressure at the fuel injection rail test port. Affirmative. I believe the timing might be coincidental. You may be addressing two distinct issues. An issue with initiation and a complication with the apex.

I would begin with the inoperative engine. Examine the primary three: Spark, Fuel, Air.

The issue may be as simple as a malfunctioning gasoline pump.
