Greetings, everyone.
Recently, I successfully resolved the fuel-related problems with my 1988 560 SL. I made the decision to assist my buddy with his 87 560SL. The issue seems to be distinct from my own. Despite having all the necessary components such as crank, spark, and gasoline, the engine stubbornly refuses to start. The spark plugs in question are W9DC R6 plugs, which may have a 6K ohm resistor. Given that my 88 has a R0, it is reasonable to assume that there may be a potential issue there. Furthermore, while inspecting the automobile, it seems that a significant number of components have been haphazardly installed on this vehicle. The components that need to be checked or replaced are plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel pressure regulator located next to the FD, both fuel pumps, fuel filter, and fuel pressure accumulator.
I attempted to initiate the vehicle's engine, and while using starting fluid spray, it did ignite momentarily but failed to sustain operation. I am somewhat perplexed. I also verified the provision of gasoline. Fuel is sent to the fuel distributor (FD), and while the engine is being cranked, fuel is there even when one of the injectors is unplugged. I reestablished the connection and relaxed all the other injector lines at the fuel distributor, confirming the presence of fuel. Additionally, I removed the plugs and saw that they are moist. According to this information, I am receiving gasoline but there is no ignition, which is perplexing because all the necessary components are there for the engine to function. I conducted a compression test and obtained a reading of 150 pounds per square inch (psi) for each cylinder. I am uncertain about the current situation.
I am submitting this to you experts for aid.
Thank you.
