Gentlemen,

I want to enhance the distinctive whaaaaa sound produced by the supercharger. I have conducted extensive research on the topic, and here are my findings.

The prevalent selections for this engine seem to be:

RocEuro Intake System - Priced at £230.00, they claim it "Outperforms all competitors in practical evaluations."
034Motorsport - @Dave Kwatro used the intake pipe equipped with an ITG tri-foam filter.

In my experience with a BSR Tuned 3.0 TDI, the standard Mann filter sufficed for performance. Individuals using aftermarket intakes often experienced turbo blade damage, perhaps due to inadequate filtration by the filters. I have inquired with Bobby if this situation mostly stems from the eBay special intakes and requested his perspective on the matter.

I unequivocally want an increase in whining; it is the primary motivation for my modifications to the intake. I own a supercharger and want to experience its sound.

What are the experiences of others about these intakes? Have you seen any problems with filtering, or is everything satisfactory?

What features does the automobile currently possess? The OE design encompasses two primary domains of noise attenuation:
Helmholtz resonator in air pipe
Acoustic insulation pads around the supercharger.

A straight-through airpipe will provide the greatest noise reduction.

The original intake pipe has a little Helmholtz resonator and a mesh silencer; hence, substituting it with a straight pipe, such as the 034, would amplify noise levels.
Procedures to amplify the whining loudness;

replace the intake pipe
Extract the foam from inside the airbox.
create apertures in the airbox (retain engine side)
remove snow shield
replace filter

The OEM paper filter provides superior filtration, while some aftermarket firms may contest this, it is likely to be the most silent option. Some OEM filters are further equipped with a fiber wrap. OEM filters are probably more restrictive; however, performance filters often include a lifetime warranty and may filter as effectively, provided they are properly maintained and, if applicable, oiled, allowing for cleaning and re-oiling.

Unless traversing the Australian outback among red bull dust, I believe the internal component wear resulting from the use of a performance filter is minimal. Certain manufacturers install 'aftermarket' or essentially paper substitutes as 'OEM'.

I have always used oiled filters and consider them exceptional. K&N and BMC enhance engine airflow and acoustics, and they are durable, requiring just yearly cleaning and re-oiling. My experience comes from bikes and subsequently my S4 as well.

Indeed, my previous R6 was equipped with a factory-installed foam filter. 🙂

The one instance in which an oiled filter should not be excessively used is in an engine equipped with a wire MAF, since it may coat the sensor wire, resulting in somewhat inaccurate airflow measurements.
