I am uncertain about the operation of the gauge. I speculate if it is a combination of miles per gallon and average speed used to estimate city vs highway driving. My last tank registered about 23 miles per gallon, however my average speed was down owing to urban driving, likely around 35 miles per hour.

I have never examined the Range Extender. I will endeavour to do that. I understand that being in green mode disconnects the engine from the driveline when coasting. I coast slightly and see the increase in miles per gallon. The primary route in this area has hills, allowing MOG to ascend and descend rapidly. My city mostly has 45 mph segments with synchronised traffic signals, which is quite beneficial.
