I want to purchase a W211 E Class from the years 2002 to 2004. Specifically considering a 320 CDI or a 320 petrol, both equipped with coil springs. I have previously acquired many, so I am aware of what to expect; nevertheless, given that they are all now 20 years old, I am contemplating a comprehensive suspension overhaul.

In addition to four springs and shocks, how many bushes, ball joints, or other consumables need replacement, and what are the associated costs and labor hours?
Consequently, I will be compensating a mechanic for this task, since I am unable to do it myself.

I modified my aunt's E320 within her limited budget by using high-quality aftermarket components sourced from eBay. The back end of W211s often does not provide significant problems, hence just the front was addressed. I substituted the upper control arm ball joints, sway bar links, all lower control arms, inner and outer tie rods, and lower ball joints for around $300 USD. I completed all the repairs, however I would expect a mechanic to charge a minimum of four hours of effort. An alignment will be necessary after the suspension refresh.

To the best of my knowledge, the suspension is identical, save that all the Sports models I saw are equipped with Airmatic. There may be larger brakes and a more precise steering rack. Seventeen-inch wheels in the first years, followed with eighteen-inch AMG inspired wheels thereafter. If you are undertaking the effort, get AMG components.

Several months ago, I performed a refresh on the front suspension of our E320 CDI.

If you like a more athletic experience, I recommend opting for the Bilstein B4 shocks rather of the OEM Sachs alternatives. I believe the B6's may be very rigid for the majority of individuals.

The total cost of my components list amounted to around US $1300. I completed everything, including the following.
